botoxman

Anti-ageing injections are used to smooth out lines and slow down the signs of ageing. We treat every single patient according to their individual needs and These injections are no exception. We all have different facial expressions and movements that are unique and therefore the injection technique must be adapted to achieve beautifully natural results.

We use Anti-ageing injections to:

  • Smooth lines and wrinkles in the forehead, around the eyes and the frown
  • In mesotherapy to treat fine lines that run from the corner of the eyes to the cheek ‘scratch’ lines
  • Enhance the neck and jaw line with the Nefertiti lift
  • Correct expression lines around the mouth, chin and nose
  • Reduce nasal flair and nasal tip decent
  • Treat a Gummy smile
  • Reduce Teeth grinding and TMJ (temporomandibular joint) pain

  • Correct facial asymmetry

  • Relieve muscle pain and spasm in neck , shoulders and other areas
  • Complement combination treatments, such as the Tear Trough

Treatment time

Anti-ageing injections can be administered in 10-15 minutes, so it is quick and makes it very easy for patients to pop in over a lunch break or around social events.

Recovery time

Any signs of the treatment rapidly disappear within 10 to 15 minutes. There may be little raised bumps at each injection site, but these take no time to disappear completely. Bruising is rarely seen following the injections but in the unlikely event of this happening, make-up can be used to cover the area.

Results Duration

The results range between 3 to 6 months and, on average, patients return for repeat treatments at around 4 months. We offer package treatments to keep you looking great for the whole year and save you money.

Anti-ageing injection side effects

Side effects are rare, however temporary side effects can include:

  • Headache (temporary)
  • Bruising
  • Mild Flu like symptoms
  • Temporary drooping of the upper eyelid or eyebrow

After the treatment

We advise you to stay upright for 3-4 hours after the procedure, so no shoe shopping immediately afterwards! We also suggest that you move the treated area for an hour afterwards, to encourage the neurotoxin into the muscles. You will be given written aftercare advice following your treatment. We also advise clients not to fly for 24 hours following the treatment.

Results

It can take up to 10-14 days for the effects of Anti-ageing injections to be fully seen. When having the procedure for the first time we like you to come back 2 to 3 weeks later so that we can check the results and, if necessary, 'top up' to make sure you have the very best results. Please note we cannot 'top up' treatments after 4 weeks following the initial procedure.

FAQS

What are anti-ageing injections?

Botulinum toxin A (Azzalure) often referred to as anti-wrinkle or muscle relaxant injections is a prescription only treatment. It works by temporarily blocking the nerve signals to the muscles. The muscle becomes relaxed, in turn reducing the appearance of the lines and wrinkles.

What are muscle relaxant injections?

Muscle relaxants consist of a purified version of a protein and toxin produced by a bacteria found in meat. When injected into targeted muscles, these products work by temporarily blocking nerve signals to the muscle. This controlled weakening reduces muscle movement, causing the wrinkles over the muscles to become smoother.

What is the difference between Muscle relaxant injections and Dermal Filler?

Muscle relaxants are used to treat wrinkles and lines caused by repeated muscle movement, such as smile lines and forehead creases. They work by temporarily weakening the underlying muscles. Dermal fillers are used to plump up the skin by adding volume. They may be used to fill in wrinkles caused by sagging skin, to restore volume lost to the ageing process, or to enhance areas of the face such as the lips and cheeks.

How will I know which product is right for me?

Dr Glancey offers a number of different dermal fillers and muscle relaxants. Dr Glancey will help you choose from among these highly effective cosmetic products. Each has been formulated to suit different aesthetic concerns and facial areas. Rest assured there is a number of excellent products available, whatever your specific beauty concern. We can discuss product options with you at your first consultation visit with us.

Which areas can be treated?

Many clients begin receiving injections of muscle relaxants as soon as they start seeing signs of wrinkles. Others wait until their wrinkles are more substantial before seeking treatment. There is no reason to delay seeking cosmetic injections. Many clients undergo decades of repeated treatments with no ill effects. While most clients begin seeking treatment in their early 30s or 40s, it can be performed safely on clients who are both younger and older. Some patients in their 20’s have injectable treatments to prevent wrinkles and lines from forming.

Is the Treatment available for men and women?

Yes, muscle relaxant treatment works well on both men and women.

Are there any age restrictions?

We do not treat anyone under the age of 18 years.

Can I have the treatment while pregnant?

No, for safety reasons you cannot have this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Will it hurt?

The discomfort during this treatment is minimal. We use a very thin needle and the injection process is over in a matter of minutes. For very anxious clients a topical numbing cream can be applied if desired.

How long will the injecting take?

The injection process itself is over in just a few moments. You can expect to spend half an hour or less in the clinic.

Are the results permanent?

No, the result is temporary. The results last between 3 -4 months depending the facial area treated, and your body’s ability to absorb the injected toxin. It can wear off after as little as 8 weeks in some clients and it can last up to 6 months in others. Many patients undergo regular touch-up injections in order to maintain their rejuvenated appearance. If you opt not to have further treatment, the treated area will gradually return to its pre-treatment appearance.

How long do the results last?

This depends on the area treated, and the individual client. Muscle relaxants usually last 3-4months, but in some cases can last as little as 8 weeks or can last up to 6 months Over time, you will notice the results of the treatment begin to fade, gradually returning your appearance to its pre-treatment state.

There are many other areas where Anti-ageing injections can be used to achieve a pleasing cosmetic outcome.

Top lip to reduce the formation of lines and soften ‘smoker’s lines’. The top lip can be rejuvenated with a combination of Anti-ageing injections and dermal filler.

Mouth Frown The corners of the mouth have a strong muscle, which pulls the corners down into what we call the ‘mouth frown’. Constant repetition of this movement can encourage and contribute to the so-called ‘marionette’ lines and dimpling on the chin. Anti-ageing injections can be used to re-train you out of this habit and lift the corners of the mouth.

Neck Unsightly neck bands that appear when straining the neck can be reduced by injecting neurotoxin into the muscles that produce this movement. With repeated treatment this can also soften the ‘neck rings’ that form around the neck.

Jaw line The jawline can be softened with Anti-ageing injections and the lower face lifted in a procedure known as the 'Nefertiti lift.' This procedure addresses the lower face, chin, neck and jawline, creating a non-surgical lifting effect.

Jaw Reduction The masseter muscle is attached to the jaw and is used when chewing food. This muscle can be very strong in some patients causing it to bulk up and creating a strong, square jaw. Anti-ageing injections can be used to reduce this muscle bulk and soften the jaw angle. This procedure can also help for patients that clench their teeth while sleeping (a condition known as Bruxism).

Nasal Flare The area around the nostrils can flare when smiling or laughing. Anti-ageing injections can be used to reduce the flare and give a nicer appearance to the nose area.

Nasal decent Often referred to as the ‘witch nose.’ There is a muscle attached from the nose to the top lip and in some patients this muscle pulls the nose down when smiling. Anti-ageing injections can be used to prevent this movement and keep the nose steady while smiling.

Décolleté wrinkles Some patients experience wrinkles on the décolleté during certain neck movements. By injecting the areas that create this movement a smooth, wrinkle-free décolleté can be achieved.
